Impacted by the tide, the hydrodynamic and the water quality of the tidal river are very complex. The research of hydrodynamic and water quality modeling for the tidal river has profound theoretic and practical significance. One dimension hydrodynamic model is established and applied to the Yangtze reach in Jiangsu province. The characteristics of low flow are numerically simulated under the typical hydrographic conditions. The position variation of the tidal current limit in the low Yangtze and the feature of tidal level and flow with the variation of the time and the distance are analyzed. Taking the Yangtze reach in Nanjing city for example, two dimension hydrodynamic model is established and the flow character is simulated and analyzed.Different from Euler pattern, the random walk model is established based on the hydrodynamic feature of the tidal river and the environmental fluid mechanics feature of contaminator transport. Using the model, the transport of convection and diffusion is simulated. Analyzing the oscillation regular and stay time of the contaminator in the Yangtze reach in Nanjing city under the typical hydrographic conditions.Associating with the instance, the random walk model is contrasted with the water quality model of Euler. It is very visual to distribute the feature of contaminator transport using the random walk model in the tidal river. Also, the method is suitable to other nature water substance.
