Abstract/Summary:
The design and synthesis of organic-inorganic hybrid supramolecular compounds based on polyoxometalates has attracted great attention not only stems from their intriguing variety of architectures and incomparable electronic versatility, but also from their potential applications in the fields as diverse as catalysis, medicine, molecular magnetism and material science. A successful synthetic strategy to prepare hybrid materials involves the combination of the organic ligands and polyoxoanions. In this paper, through normal technique and molecular design and self-assembly, five novel inorganic-organic hybrid compounds (C10H18N)4[SiMo12O40]·nH2O (1), (C10H18N)4[SiMo12O40]·2CH3CN·4H2O (2), (C10H18N)6[α-As2W18O62]·nH2O (3), (C10H18N)6[α-As2W18O62]·6CH3CN·6H2O (4), and (C6NO2H6)6[α-P2W18O62]·10.5H2O (5) have been synthesized through modifying synthetic conditions and starting materials. Structures of compounds 2, 4, and 5 have been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction, and the properties of these hybrid complexes have been discussed such as IR, NMR, CV et al. In these compounds, the overall crystal structures are strongly stabilized by electrostatic forces and by an extensive network of hydrogen bonding interactions, which involve the polyoxoanions, protonated organic ligands, water molecules, and the solvent CH3CN molecules, they exhibit the supramolecular 3D network structures. The organic ligands amantadine and pyridine-4-carboxylic acid possesses biological activity. The incorporate of the organic ligands with the polyoxoanions can improve the biological activity of the polyoxoanions. The successful syntheses of these compounds which represent a model of how Keggin-type polyanion [SiMo12O40]4- and Dawson-type polyoxoanions [α-As2W18O62]6- and [α-P2W18O62]6- might interact with organic molecules. It also provided the reactive information of the polyoxoanions with the organic ligands, at the same time, enriched the compounds of inorganic-organic compounds based on polyoxometalates.
