Indoor environment is the main space where people stay, and the formaldehyde is one of the major pollutants in space and in residential space, the formaldehyde pollution has being concerned because of its serious affection to people's health. The products made from the wood and wood composite materials such as plywood, fiberboard, and particleboard are the most part of indoor decoration materials, accounting for about 70%, and these products are also a principal source of formaldehyde.Presently, the ways to solute the formaldehyde pollution of the wood-based panel and its harmful effects are mainly from the following aspects: Formaldehyde pollution and its harmful effects, mainly from the following areas: Using and selecting the modified adhesive the reasonable parameters of adhesive, researching on the non-formaldehyde adhesives (MDI), controlling the ormaldehyde content by adding the formaldehyde scavenger (E0, E1), and decreasing the formaldehyde content by dealing with the wood-based panel products (ammonia treatment, reaching E0, E1). Each approach has its merits and disadvantages.Even if the furniture were produced by the wood-based panel that qualified to the current national or European standards, the formaldehyde will also release to the indoor spaces, the formaldehyde density of the indoor spaces may be above the limit density provided by "Standards of Indoor air quality" (0.08mg/m~3).There are many effects on the formaldehyde release of plate furniture. In this paper, the method of the simulated climate box was used. According to the actual conditions of the furniture and the main formaldehyde release factors, the reasonable factor was select, such as temperature, humidity, finishes processing etc.. The laws of the formaldehyde release were obtained by testing the main materials of the MDF furniture, on the basic of that, the formaldehyde release of whole furniture was discussed in order to make up for the inadequateness to the of the formaldehyde pollution and the formaldehyde release of the plate furniture. To this end, this paper has following main elements:The formaldehyde release law of MDF by finishes treatment. The formaldehyde density decreased significantly after the finishes treatment. The formaldehyde density of MDF, MDF melamine paper, and MDF decorated by painting are 0.0985mg/m~3, 0.0374mg/m~3, and 0.0295mg/m~3. At different temperatures, the formaldehyde release law of MDF by finishes treatment. Along with the increase of temperature, the release of formaldehyde density increased. In 15℃, 25℃, 35℃, MDF decorated by melamine paper and MDF decorated by painting is 0.0374 mg/m~3, 0.0495 mg/m~3, 0.0568 mg/m~3 and 0.0295mg/ mg/m~3, 0.0423 mg/m~3, 0.0498 mg/m~3. The formaldehyde release law of MDF by finishes treatment with perforation. The perforation exposed in the air released much more formaldehyde. The release of formaldehyde density of MDF decorated by melamine paper and MDF decorated by painting are 0.0374mg/m~3,0.0295mg/m~3, after opening, the density is 0.0990mg/m~3,0.0891mg/m~3.If above specimens tested are assumed to be the main component of furniture materials, on the basic of the experiments and the experimental results, the method to consulate the formaldehyde emission of MDF furniture and limit load in a certain volume was raised. |
