Formaldehyde is a serious indoor contaminant. However there still isn't very effective method to remove it. So It is considerably significant to research the removal of indoor formaldehyde. Through preliminary research,the adsorption of gaseous formaldehyde and water can reach 1.4mg/g- zeolite and 1.98mg/g-zeolite respectively at normal temperature by the zeolite at CheTian.The effects of the modified zeolite by different heat treatment method on adsorption of formaldehyde are not the same.Zeolite calcined at 400℃has small adsorption capability, while zeolite treated by microwave at 400℃hardly absorb formaldehyde, but the adsorption of water is 30 times than that untreated.The capability to absorb the formaldehyde using different modified zeolite by inorganic reagents, such as NaCl, H2SO4, HCl, NaOH etc,has been researched in this paper. It can be seen that the adsorption is up to 13.72mg/g-zeolite in the zeolite modified with H2SO4 from the results, which is 10 times higher than that in natural zeolite.And the modified zeolite by NaCK HCl and NaOH hardly adsorb formaldehyde.In this subject, organic reagent such as HDTMA, LAS.etc has been adopted to modify the zeolite at CheTian,and the capability of modified zeolite to absorb the formaldehyde has been studied.The adsorption performance of modified zeolite by LAS is not significant, but the concentration of surfactants has tremendous influence on the performance of modification. The capability of zeolite that has been treated by LAS with concentration for 2mmol/20g-zeolite to absorb formaldehyde is 4.68 times than that of the natural zeolite.
