The production increasing of municipal solid waste (MSW), has caused a hard problem that all over the world must face to. The production and the physical characteristics of MSW is one of the most important theoretic foundation for choosing disposal of MSW. The caloric value of MSW is the necessary condition for MSW combustion, but not the ample conditions. There is little date of physical characteristics and caloric value of MSW about Lanzhou, with incineration is brought in Lanzhou, it's necessary and has real value to gain entirely current information about characteristics of MSW of Lanzhou.Through investigation of scene and correlated sectors, the per capita output of solid waste in Lanzhou city is estimated about 1.19kg/d, single day production which is 2468t, and distribution are researched. Through scene sampling, sorting and analysis with handy available facilities and criteria determining method, in canonical seasons and available landfill sites, physical composition, water content, ash content, combustible cent, caloric value, etc of the physical characteristics are exactly got.The affecting factors of MSW incineration, including technical plant condition, MSW characteristics condition, current economic condition, policy condition, operation management condition, etc, are analysed. Through caculating the advantage and disadvantage, feasibility in MSW incineration is discussed by analytic hierarchy process, according to the realistic conditions. The conclusion, that incineration does not fit in Lanzhou, landfill is still the best method for MSW disposal, is drawn, which would be as reference for related correlated departments.
