Based on the massive research work about Ebinur Lake Basin by the predecessor and two times of on-the-spot investigations, this paper analyses and discusses several ecological environmental problems in this area, and conducts the basic research on the area's present situation of vegetation resources. It fully draws the existing research theory, the method and the achievement, combines the theory and method of Geography, Ecology and Environmental Science. This paper is divided into six main parts. The first part briefly describes the natural background situation of the Ebinur Lake Basin, and expounds the area's ecological existing problems and its negative impacts during the past 50 years evolution process. The second part analyses the changing trend of the typical geographical elements and major elements of the ecological environment in Ebinur Lake Basin in recent 50 years. The third part studies the mechanisms and influencing factors of ecological environment evolution in Ebinur Lake Basin. It finds that human activities have much stonger impact on the studied area's ecological environment than the natural background changes in the last 50 years. The fourth part studies the present situation of vegetation resources on the basis of on-the-spot survey. It is the first time to estimate the existing plant biomass in the whole area , which lays the foundation for the future in-depth study. Based on the Watershed Ecology Theory, the fifth part makes the preliminary research on the studied area's ecosystem evolution and the relationship between ecosystem evolution and vegetation succession. The sixth part proposes the specific ideas and measures to improve the Ebinur Lake Basin's ecological environment.
