The coiler is very important equipment in rolling production-line, which not only influences on the output and quality of strip, but also guarantees the subsequent handlings such as pickling and coating. Carrousel coiler is ultimate cold-rolled pull coiler. It is necessary to analyze the structure and parameters of this coiler, which is beneficial for us to learn and rebuild foreign advanced technique and equipment. It's instructional to practical production.Firstly, the operating principle of Carrousel coiler is analyzed. The structures including main drive system, mandrel, speed reducer, rotary and locking mechanism and expansion bearing are illustrated detailedly. The key parameters are enumerated. The advantages of Carrousel coiler are generalized compared with other types.Secondly, the formulas of coiler's static power and dynamic power are deduced. The influence by dynamic factors on coiler is analyzed. The motion parameters and kinetic parameters, which include drive ratio, power, revolution and torque, are calculated. In addition, based on understanding the structure and parameters of Carrousel coiler adequately, the three-dimensional models are established with Pro/E. And these models are assembled to a whole body. The motion emulation is completed subsequently. The formulas of driving error, back-play error and elastic deformation, which are in the coiler's main drive system, are deduced. The accuracy of Carrousel coiler is calculated accurately as well as response time. Finally, the strength-check of segment, which is the key part of coiler's mandrel, is done with finite element analysis software Marc. The finite element model of segment is established. The constraint conditions and boundary conditions are analyzed member by member. In the end, the stress and strain are done by finite-element method.
