3,5-Dimethyldiphenylamine was firstly prepared by 3,5-dimethylaniline and benzenesulfonic acid sodium salt and the technical conditions of 3,5-dimethyldiphenylamine were discussed in the paper. The optimal condition of the route which yield 87.8% was that the reaction mixure was proceeded at 200℃for 3.5h in the solvent of 3,5-dimethylaniline, and the molar proportion of potassium chloride and the sodium salt of 3,5-dimethylaniline was 1:1. Then 3,4-dimethyldiphenylamine, 3,4′-dimethyldiphenylamine and 3,5,4′-trimethyldiphen- -ylamine were synthesized in the same method, the yields were respectively 88.99%, 27.52% and 65.39%.3,4-Dimethyldiphenylamine was reacted with p-methyliodobenzene to get 3,4,4′-trimethyltriarylamine in 85.76 % yield. The reaction conditions were that cuprous chloride and 1,10-phenanthroline were used as catalyzer and the reaction mixture was refluxed for 7h in the solvent of toluene at 110℃.3,5-Dimethyldiphenylamine and 3,4-dimethyldiphenylamine were respectively reacted with 4,4′-diiodobiphenyl to get N,N′-bis(3,5-dimethylphenyl)- N,N′-diphenyl-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4,4′-diamine and N,N′-bis(3,4-dimethylphenyl)- N,N′-diphenyl-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4,4′-diamine in 82.24% and 91.23% yield. The reaction conditions were that cuprous chloride and 1,10-phenanthroline were used as catalyzer and the reaction mixtures were refluxed for 7h in the solvent of xylene at 150℃.The products were characterized by UV, IR ,MS and 1H-NMR, and the structure of the compounds was confirmed correctly. The organic photoconductive device of functional separation type was prepared with N,N′-bis(3,5-dimethylphenyl)- N,N′-diphenyl-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4,4′-diamine and N,N′-bis(3,4-dimethylphenyl)- N,N′-diphenyl-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4,4′-diamine as charge transport materials, and with Y-TiOPc as charge genenation material. The test result of the device showed that the compounds had good performance of hole transport.
