Room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) are regarded as a novel class of green materials, which poise great promise in practical industrial applications. The unique chemical and physical properties of RTILs mostly depend on their ionization and autoionization degree. In this paper, a series of typical imidazolium and pyridium ionic liquids were synthesized and characterized by 1H NMR and 13C NMR. Then the relationship between the structure of the RTILs and their conductivities was also investigated. We hope the work could provide some guides in selecting proper RTILs in the practical applications.Gold nanoparticles (GNPs) have attracted extensive attentions because of their wide applications in the fields of biological chemistry, medical diagnose and chemical catalyst. In this paper, a kind of water soluble polymerized ionic liquid: 1-methyl-3-(4-vinylbenzyl) imidazolium chloride (PMVBIC) was selected as stabilizer and GNPs were prepared in the PMVBIC aqueous solution from HAuCl4 and NaBH4. It was found that the shape, size and dispersion of GNPs were greatly affected by the dosage and the adding speed of the reducer, the concentration of PMVBIC, reaction temperature and solvents. Spherical, polyhedral and other shaped GNPs can be obtained through controlling these conditions in reasonable situations. In particular, coral-shaped GNPs were also produced via introducing the poor solvent of the PMVBIC, and the method can be used to prepare other noble...
