The Quercetin is hydrolysis product of flavonoids. The flavonoids exsit in many vegetative flower, leaf, fruit. The Quercetin possesses very high medicine value.Adsorption isotherm is a parameter to describe the equilibrium condition of the components between the stationary phase and the mobile phase, and it is also the important parameter in separation process design and simulation study. Frontal analysis method is one of the most accurate, precise, fast and economic method to determine adsorption isotherm. In this paper, the main purpose is determining adsorption isotherm of the Quercetin mixture by frontal analysis method, and according to the result, calculating the retention time, then comparing with the retention time obtained from the experiment under preparative conditions. In the experiment, the suitable measurement conditions of adsorption isotherm was chosen, based on the chosen conditions, the competitive adsorption isotherm of binary 2-phenylethamol and 3-plenypropanol was determined, then the adsorption isotherm of the three kinds of Quercetin samples were also determined. The adsorption characters of three kinds of Quercetin samples were compared. The results show that the single component approximation is suitable to deal the adsorption isotherm of Quercetin mixture. The results of three kinds of Quercetin samples present the character of competitive adsorption, and also present the influence of impurities in the mixture on the adsorption character. The results also show that the retention time calculated on adsorption isotherm of the preparative conditions near the value obtained from the experiments. So the method in this paper can be the foundation to optimize the separation conditions of Quercetin, and under certain condition, this method can be extended to other effective components in correspanding mixtures.
