Phaeocytstis globosa and Prorocentrum donghaiense are the familiar red tide species of South-China and East-China. The removal method of red tide is a hot spot in the red tide research domain. In this study, we use the DBNPA as the algaecide and find out it could effectively kill and control the algal. The DBNPA have the algae removal rate of 92.5% with the concentration of 8.0mg/L against the Phaeocytstis globosa(the algae cell density is 1.25×10~6cells/ml ). The DBNPA have the algae removal rate of 89.2% with the concentration of 8.0mg/L against the Prorocentrum donghaiense (the cell density is 1.20×10~6cells/ml). Furthermore, we discuss the removal mechanic of DBNPA.After the removal of algal, DBNPA will partly change into bromide, the residual will degraded quickly and the final product is bromide, carbon dioxide and ammonia. This study shows that the DBNPA can remove the algal efficiently and have little negative effect on non-red tide microbe. It is a ideal algaecide . So it is worth of further investigation and wide application.
