In the paper, a new phase-change recording material-GaSbBi was researched. The properties of target and the structure, crystallization kinetics and optical property of film were analyzed particularly.The target GaSbBi was prepared by CIP (cold isostatic pressing)and HIP(hot isostatic pressing).It was GaSb+ (Sb, Bi) eutectic organization and had good relatively density and suitable melting temperature. With the increase of the Bi concentration, the lattice parameter increased and the melting point decreased.With the increase of the Bi concentration, the lattice parameter c of annealed film increased via XRD. Through the X-ray diffraction patterns of Ga12Sb79.2Bi8.8 film with different temperature, the annealed temperature had a great effect on grain size and crystallinity.It can be concluded that Ga12Sb79.2Bi8.8 film had the biggest grain size when the annealed temperature was 350℃ and had the best crystallinity when the annealed temperature was 400℃.As the Bi concentration was increasing, the crystallization temperature decreased via DSC. The crystallization activation energy was calculated by Kissinger method. At the doping composition range, crystallization activation energy was decreased with the increase of Bi concentration .But the crystallization activation energy was more than 2.0ev and it met the stability demand. Through an analysis of crystallization activation energy, it can be noted the the crystallization rate increased with the increase of the Bi concentration.The Ga12Sb79.2Bi8.8 met the optical property demands via spectral photometer. Absorption of Ga12Sb79.2Bi8.8 crystalline film was more than one of amorphous films, which can reduce the change when reading information. The least reflectivity contrast of Ga12Sb79.2Bi8.8 is 28.78%.This also meted the reflection demand. Ga12Sb88 and Ga12Sb83.6Bi4.4 maybe made information lose.
