The advanced ceramics, with many good properties that metals don't have, such as the high hardness, high strength, high wearable and heat- resistant, acid-proof and alkali-proof, low density, coefficient of low hot expansion and coefficient of Coefficient of low heat conduction, become one of the modern engineering materials pillars gradually with a broad application prospect in the fields of industry, such as machinery, space flight, national defense. Many of which got through fritting can't serve as machine components directly unless undergo fine machining. And ceramics are the typical hard-fragile materials, the traditional machining method is very difficult to be competent. Although the advanced ceramics have so many great properties, the difficult for machining makes it limited in the application.Wire Electrical Discharge Grinding is a effective means which is applied to machine micro-shafts , It is a kind of ideal means to machining advanced ceramics too.The experiment prove that WEDM can be used to machine if the product electrical resistance less than 100Ω·cm(conductivity is greater than 0.01s/cm ) .For the electrical resistance of B4C is far less than 100Ω·cm, it could be machined by WEDM. Recently, our lab have finished the experimentation mainly focus on machining the excircle face using WEDG. The practice proved that the method is practical. For there are some short in the progress, such as the instability of the principal axis, the bad quality of...
