The process of PET wastewater disposal, including the steam-stripping and recovery of VOC, is studied in the dissertation, as follows.1. The internal standard quantitative analysis method of acetaldehyde and 2-methyl-1,3-dioxolane(2-MD) was established by using the gas chromatography. The concentration of VOC in PET wastewater sampling from different PET factory and that of recovered ethylene glycol were analyzed.2. Steam stripping capability of VOC from PET wastewater was measured. The influences of flow rate of wastewater, flow rate of steam and temperature of wastewater on the performances of the steam stripping column were investigated. The height of mass transfer unit was decided. The flooding experiment was also conducted.3. A plant-scale steam stripping column was designed. The heat exchange net wasoptimized by the pinch method and ASPEN PLUS software.4. The recovery of the overhead product, which mainly contains aldehyde and 2-MD,was studied. The hydrolysis technique of 2-MD was studied by orthogonal experiments and partial single effect experiments. The suitable reaction conditions were obtained. Furthermore, ethylene glycol, which came from the hydrolysis reaction, was purified by concetration and distillation under reduced pressure.
