Development And Application Of The Specialty Color Masterbatch For Additive In Polypropylene 4220 Resin

Random copolymer of propylene (PP-R) is a kind of resin developed for plastic pipe product, which has been applied in architectural pipe and fitting during the late 80s and early 90s last century in Europe. PP-R pipe has many merits such as non-poisonous, rustless, erosion-resistance, non-fouling and heat-resistance, so it won extensive application in the developed country. Nowadays, the development of the PP-R pipe is at the preliminary stage in China, but the growth rate is rapid. Yanshan Petrochemical Co. Ltd. is the first corporation which can produce PP-R resin in industrial scale device in China. The properties of the resin have achieved the levels of the same import product.The PP-R pipe is produced by extrusion process from the colored PP-R resin. The dominating colors of the PP-R pipe are grey and green. Color masterbatch is a kind of new specialty colorant for additive in high-polymer materials, which is mainly composed of pigments, dispersant, and carrier. Based on the properties of the PP-R resin and request of the application, the specialty color masterbatch for additive in PP-R resin were studied in the paper, and its technical criterion was established. According to the dispersive principle of pigment, the processing route and method of the preparation of specialty color masterbatch for additive in the PP-R resin was brought forward. The incompatibility between the color masterbatch and the PP-R resin was resolved by adopting the PP-R4220 resin powder branded Yanshan Petrochemical Co. Ltd..
