The adhesive used in honeycomb paperboard has great effect on the performance of the board. Sodium silicate, used as adhesive early, was abandoned in the world for it has so much alkali, easy to be wet, low speed of drying and harmful to the environment. The starch adhesive comes into use for its non-toxic, no pollution, good viscosity and low cost. It is becoming a trend to produce starch adhesive. The paper mainly studies the method of producing starch adhesive with oxidant H2O2 under room temperature. Using the orthogonal testing method, the author tested the viscosity, the initially stick force, peel strength, drying time and the storage time of the adhesive and analyses the effect of oxidant, catalyst, thickening agent and complexon on the performance of the adhesive in order to get the best formula and better performance. The result reaches the performance request of adhesive in BB/T0016-1999"Package Material Honeycomb Paperboard". Then compare the performance of oxidation adhesive and dextrin adhesive and get the result that oxidation has more practical value. Then the author did modification study in view of low drying speed and unstable performance and chose sodium bentonite and proper stabilizer to reduce the drying time to 2 hours. The storage time is prolonged and can be kept 25 days in the environment of humidity 80% and temperature 25℃.The result of the experiment has been put into practice in a honeycomb paperboard factory in Guangdong and is passed in the test.
