With the modern industry development, the people request much higher demand to the anticorrosion coating. But the traditional anticorrosion coating already can not satisfy the needs of some profession. Then the people bring forward the concept which called heavy-duty anticorrosion coating. The heavy-duty anticorrosion coating is a coating system which is used to protect the steel structure above 10 years under the severe corrosion environment. In the present the PU composite materials are an common and important variety used as anti-corrosion topcoat. However, the coating containing isocyanate is very active and more sensitive. Therefore the coating film always lacks corrosion resistance and weathering resistance.As same as the most nano-size materials, The rutile nano-TiO2 has many particular properties, such as surface boundary effect, volume effect, quantum size effect, quantum tunneling effect and so on. In order to improve the ability of the anti-corrosion and aging-resistance, we have conducted the research on the rutile nano-TiO2 modified hydroxyl-bearing acrylic polyurethane coating.This article has analyzed the influence of NCO/OH in the polyurethane coating on the performance, also carried on the infrared spectrum to the modified polyurethane coating (IR) to attribute. According to the result it had determined NCO/OH = 1.05-1.10 was the best allocated proportion.We also discussed the effect on the performance of the input of rutile nano-TiO2 to the polyurethane composite material. Some experiments have been carried on, which include the abrasion-resistance, hardness and brightness of the coating. According to these experiments'results, it can be determined that the wear-resistance, hardness and brightness of the polyurethane coating has the distinct improvement when the input amount of rutile nano-TiO2 is 2%.The chemical resistance, corrosion resistance and accelerated artificial weathering have been tested. Through the serials of the tests, we can find that the polyurethane coating modified by rutile nano- TiO2 can effectively shield ultraviolet ray and enhance the anti- aging and corrosion resistance performance. In the mean time, the coating can also prolong the service life of steel structure.
