In the underwater ordnance of our country, Materials are needed not only with high strength and modulus, but high ductility and corrosion resistance as well. The simple metal, ceramic or macromolecule could not meet these needs that increase progressively. Metal matrix composites (MMCs) could utilize the properties of the metal matrix and the reinforced phase, have the properties of specific strength, specific modulus and resistance to wear and have a wild application in the aviation, auto manufacture and advanced weapon systems, etc.But the reinforced particles are always added into the matrix from outside to fabricate the MMCs, the particles are always large, with the sharp angle that could result in stress concentration, have bad bonding with the matrix that will resulted in the decrease of ductility. In-situ methods mean creating the particles inside the matrix. The particles are small and will have a good bonding with the matrix. Also the interface is clean. So using in-situ...
