A new progress appeared in military rubber reinforcement at 1930, which is the successful synthesis of porous silica, compare with carbon black, porous silica got a better reinforcement in military rubber industry. In no more than half a century, porous silica became one of the most important inorganic and functional materials. What it possesses excellent properties as innoxious, amorphous, porous, high dispersing, low density, chemical stableness, resistant to elevated temperature, incombustible and fine electrical insulation and so on, especially for its large specific surface area, let porous silica gets more application in many fields. It has became an important component in many current functional materials.There are many preparation techniques in porous silica, partition base on basic theory, there is only two, that is sedimentation porous silica and fumed silica. Influenced by structure and component of starting materials and technology, the properties of fumed porous silica are better than sedimentation porous silica. Meanwhile, the cost of both starting materials and technique is expensive than sedimentation porous silica. Therefore, improve the properties of sedimentation porous silica, is an valuable direction of research, and there appears many embranchments in preparation of porous silica as hypergravity method, alcohols liquor method, antiphase latex method and so on.Compared with land clay, sea clay holds many particular features, i.e. fine structure, worse crystallization, high activity etc. And, it also holds many shortcomings as complex mineral and chemical components,...
