Many articles have reported that natural polybrominated hydroxy diphenyl ethers had exhibited great activities in bioassays. They had great antimicrobial abilities against Gram positive bacteria and Gram negative bacteria. It is a very important target to obtain more compounds which have higher effect, wider application, better selectivity and lower toxicity. This article concentrates on synthesis and biological activities of brominated dihydroxy dipheyl ether derivatives, eleven compounds were synthesized, isolated and characterized by IR, ~1H NMR, MS and elemental analysis, seven of them were new compounds. The basic biological activity research of the target molecules was carried out. The following innovated results were achieved:(1) Three brominated 2,2' -dihydroxy diphenyl ethers which have the alike structure of natural products were synthesized, isolated and characterized by IR, ~1H NMR, MS and elemental analysis, one of them is new compound.(2) Eight brominated 2,4' and 4,4' -dihydroxy diphenyl ethers were synthesized, isolated and characterized by IR, ~1H NMR, MS and elemental analysis, six of them are new compounds.(3) antimicrobial abilities of the brominated dihydroxy diphenyl ethers against eight bacteria were tested and the following results were obtained: a), all of the...
