In our country, no-bake furan resin is one of the main molding materials in the production of cast-iron products, low nitrogen furan resin is also abroad used in the production of cast-Steel products, at present, it is one of the widest applications in foundry binders at home. However, there are still many problems in producing and preparing sand molds of furan resin, mainly are that, the nitrogen of resin binders is on the high side, the curing rate is slower than phenolic urethane no-bake binders, the production efficiency is low, the resin binder is still expensive, the content of free formaldehyde content is high, and there is volatile organic compounds during core making and castings, pollute environment, damage the health of workers. The experiments are done from four parts which as follow: â‘  Reaction conditions which affect the synthesis of furan resin were discussed by single factor experiments, and the optimum conditions were obtained, we named this process as Ningbo technique for short. â‘¡ On the basis of Ningbo technique, the techniques of furan resin was modified by polyol, resorcinol, acetone and Phenolic resin, and the optimum conditions were obtained. In addition, the properties and the cost of different modified furan resins were compared. â‘¢The structure during different reaction steps, before and after curing reaction of furan resin were systematically investigated using infrared spectroscopy. then reaction mechanism and curing mechanism were deduced. The thermostability after curing reaction of furan resin was analyzed by differential thermal analysis (DTA), and thermostrength is obtained. â‘£At last, Reaction conditions which affect the synthesis of curing agents were discussed by orthogonal factor experiments and the optimum conditions were obtained. At last, the properties of differental curing agents were compared.
