Epoxy cured by anhydride curing agent has been widely used in electronic and electric fields because of its excellent physical and electric properties. However, the application of epoxy cured by anhydride in other fields is limited as its brittleness. Traditional modifying method such as elastomerices modification, thermoplastic resin modification, etc. will low its thermal stability when the toughness of develops, therefore, new modifying method should be attempt. In recent years, as the appearance nano material and the development of nano technology, polymer/montmorillonite nanocomposite was pay a lot of attention because of its excellent properties, therefore, it is gradually become popular to research that layered silicate is used to prepare organic-inorganic hybrids by intercalation. Research about epoxy modifying enter a new era. Epoxy/montmorillonite composite will be prepared with montmorillonite as modifying agent of epoxy and methylendic anhydride as curing agent. Epoxy and curing agent interacted between montmorillonite layers. Montmorillonite layers were exfoliated because of massive heat evolution during epoxy curing process.Epoxy/Montmorillonite nanocomposite was obtained. Processing parameters were optimized by the theory of orthogonal experimental design. The microstructure and macroscopic properties of the composite obtained was characterized. The interlamellar spacing of montmorillonite dispersed in the composite was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The fracture face of the composite was characterized by scanning electric microscopy (SEM) and the surface of the composite was characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM). The relationship between mixing temperature with epoxy and montmorillonite and the microstructure of composite was studied. At the same time, mechanical...
