Polypropylene(PP)has outstanding physical and mechanical properties as well as chemical stability. As a flammable material, however,PP has a low oxygen index of 17.418.5,resulting in a great deal of molten drops and easy flame propagation when burnt;thus it has a restricted applications in such fields as electronic,electric, traffic and decorating materials. In order to widen the application fields of PP materials, a good combined material with all-round properties and flame retardants has been developed for improving PP's flame-retarding ability. Considering the shortcomings mentioned above, the current situation of flame retardants and its appliation technology are also investigated in this paper,.In the investigation, Al(OH)3/Mg(OH)2/P compound flame retardants were used and the physical mechanical properties and flame-retarding ability of cross blend PP were studied. The suitable compositions furnishes in the compound flame retardant system was determined after measuring the oxygen index and the mechanical properties of combined sphere-like and fiber-like Mg(OH)2 modified PP materials. The effects of operation conditions on the mechanical property were also investigated. Many flame retardants and synergistic mechanism were explored on the basis of studying the behavior of the compound flame retardant materials of Al(OH)3/Mg(OH)2/P.The study shows that the suitable crystal type of flame retardants, compositions furnishes of modifying agent and operation conditions could improve flame-retarding properties and could retain good mechanical properties, the compound flame-retarding materials with fiber-like Mg(OH)2 can acquire greater tensile strength and impact intensity than the one with sphere-like Mg(OH)2 and because of the optimization of moisture-proof result , No.2X...
