Abstract/Summary:
UV-curing water-borne resin systems have many advantages of non-contamination, non-toxicity, non-skin irritation and safety of production, so become an attractive research and developing (R&D) areas of UV-curing technique.In this paper two kinds of UV-curing water-borne resins were prepared from different materials: aromatic TDI (toluene diisocyanate) and aliphatic IPDI monomer. Aromatic resin has been synthesized by two kinds of methods. One of them is serial steps synthetic method with three steps: Frist, the Prepolymers I was synthesized from TDI and PEG (polyethylene glycol). Secondly, through added multifunctional group carboxyl acid and butanediol, the Prepolymers II was systhesized. Third, the oligomer was synthesized from the Prepolymers II and multifunctional group of acrylate. Final, a neutralizing agent such as a TEA (triethylamine) and water were added to form one kind of noval UV-curing water-borne PUA (polyurethane-acrylate) (UV-WPUA) resin. The other is one step method: First, dropped TDI to the mixed system of PEG, butanediol and multifunctional group carboxyl acid to synthesis the Prepolymers. And then, the oligomer was synthesized from the Prepolymers and multifunctional group acrylate. Last, TEA and water were added to form one kind of noval UV-curing water-borne PUA (polyurethane-acrylate) resin. Synthetic method of the aliphatic resin was similar to the synthetic method of serial steps of the aromatic resin.The content of -COOH, and molecular weight of PEG were confirmed by orthogonal experiment. The results indicated that the synthetic resin had excellent performance when the content of carboxyl group (-COOH) was 3 wt%, the content of unsatuated double bonds (-CH=CH2) was 3 wt%, and molecular weight of PEG was 600.The optimal technologic condition, the choice of one step and serial steps synthetic method, the order of adding materials, the kind of neutralization agent, neutralization degree, the kind of inhibitor and the water-solubility were studied. The influences of initiator's content, dry time, dry temperature, inhibitor's content on UV-curing rate were discussed. The bulk performance of the UV-WPUA resin was appraised.
