Abstract/Summary:
Due to their high stiffness and strength to weight ratios when compared to other materials,composite sandwich structures have proven their usefulness in a large number of applications in various technical fields, especially in aerospace and civil structures. But most face sheets of these sandwich structures are bonded to the cores, which can make interfaces have lower performance.In the first instance, a design for the structure of the composite sandwich in order to ameliorate the defect of interface with the composite sandwich in existence is put forward in this article. The core of the composite columnar sandwich structure studied in this article is composite construction, which is consisted of columnar compound materials and the foam plastics. This composite columnar structure is the core skeleton structure of the composite sandwich, the function of which is using to connect and sustain the face sheets. The reinforcement and the matrix in this columnar structure and face sheets are interconnected. Most characteristic of this structure, including the core skeleton and face sheets, is a whole. Namely the confectioning of the core skeleton structure and the face sheets is synchronal, and between the core's skeleton structure and the face sheets do not have the interface. This article develops the new sandwich structure has no interface between the core skeleton and the face sheets when compared to other composite sandwich panels. Therefore the panels and the core's skeleton of the sandwich construction studied in this article have no boundary surface, compared with other composite sandwich. This will basically ameliorate the frailty of interface with the panel and the core in composite sandwich.In this article, converting equipment and needling instrument, processing technology, molding technique, mechanics test have been researched, to aim at this designed sandwich construction plate and in consideration of constructional unique features. Reinforced material could be embedded into the core material in normal direction,and be capable of interconnecting with reinforced material in underside and upside face, via the designed converting equipment and processing technology.
