Titanium is an active metal, which has got more and more important applications in the national defense and the domestic constructions. However, the techniques for titanium alloy preparation and the parts processing are complicated, and the production processes consume overabundance energy causing the environment seriously polluted. Therefore, it is of significant, both theoretically and practically, importance to develop new types of titanium alloy processing technologies, such as the proposed electromagnetic (EM) directional solidification techniques for shaped Ti alloy ingots/castings, with a cold crucible or without container.In the present thesis, using the methods of theoretical modeling and computer simulation, a FEM numerical model for predicting the electromagnetic (EM) fields in a Ti alloy EM-directional solidification system is developed, based on the existing experimental configurations in the author's laboratory. The computer codes for a general 2D EM-field FEM-simulation are independently developed. Converting the present EM-fields FEM-results to that available for the alloy solidification transport processes (STP)-based simulation program, which also was independently developed by the author's research group, the purpose to perform a full authors'numerical simulation for the EM-coupled directional solidification transport processes of Ti alloy ingots/castings is preliminarily achieved. The detailed work includes:Based on experiment jobs of author's laboratory, a physical model of magnetic field of titanium EM directional solidification system is set up. According to Maxwell equations, using FEM method set up calculation mathematic model of magnetic field of titanium electromagnetic directional solidification system. Using Fortran 90 language, a simulation program is developed for electromagnetic field in a titanium EM directional solidification system.Using available ANSYS 8.0 software, Titanium EM directional solidification system is described and meshed. And provide sculpt and meshing data to calculating EM program of this paper. And apply available ANSYS 8.0 software...
