The study of rare earth complexes luminescence, being the cross science of inorganic materials luminescence, organic materials luminescence and organism luminescence, is very important for fundamental and applied research. The rare earth complexes, such as Eu3+ and Tb3+, with many merits, the high luminescent intesity, good monochromaticity, powerful weather resisting property, non-oxidate and so forth. Fluorescent rare earth complexes are of great interest In this Pape,we study the synergetic effects of second ligands(phen, bipy),reaction medium, and luminescence enhancement effects of doping ions starting from the binary complexes of europium and terbium with inexpensive benzoic acid and its derivatives, and improve the luminescence of complexes step by step. The main work is divided into four Parts:1. The binary and ternary complexes of europium and terbium with benzoic acid Phthalic acid and their derivatives(Phthalic acid, m-Phthalic acid,o-Phthalic acido-aminobenzoic acid) were synthesized and their fluorescence properties compared probable coordination structure and composition of the rare earth complexes were determined by using IR spectra, fluorescence spectra, elemental analysis,UV absorption spectra, and the thermal stability was determined by DTA-TG curves. In the binary complexes of europium, the introduction of the second ligands,l,10-Phenanthroline,2,2-bipyridine,could improve the fluorescence intensity greatly.the florescence intensity of the ternary complexes was inferior to that of binary complexes.,the results showed that all the six complexes of terbium exhibited excellent luminescence. The results show that adding second ligand have not strengthed the fluorescence intensity efficiently, and the intensity of the dicarboxylic acid is higher than monocarboxylic acid.2. A series of rare earth complexes were synthesized by changing reaction medium(methanol, alcohol, propyl alcohol, butyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol,...
