The scheduling of batch process is a complicated combination optimization problem. The studies of uncertainty scheduling received great attention from both the academia and the industry because of the fateful influence of uncertainty factors on scheduling. The on-line modification is one of the main means dealing with uncertainties. The investigation of scheduling of batch chemical processes and the on-line modification are presented in this paper. And the primary contents are as follows:1. An Inner & Outer Loop method based on Genetic Algorithms (GA) was proposed for scheduling.The scheduling was divided into two parts: processing sequence and processing timetable. Thus the solution space shrinked and the problems are simplified. This method has a good compatibility with GA. GA options were used for searching in the outer loop. And the inner loop can be regarded as the evaluating function of GA. The scheduling of batch chemical processes was solved by the proposed method, and the results were satisfying.2. The scheduling of processes with Parallel Units Out of Phase and Multifunctional Units were investigated.First, the solving method of scheduling of processes with Parallel Units Out of Phase was discussed. Then the influence of parallel units setting on different batch stage was analyzed. Virtual period was proposed for the scheduling of processes with Multifunctional Units. Case studies proved the feasibility of this method.
