Recently, Li[Ni1/3Co1/3Mn1/3]O2 has been reported to be one of attractive cathode materials in safety and cost. Investigating a simple, environmental new preparation method, and further improving its properties are very necessary for commercialization of the material.Firstly, preparation of Li[Ni1/3Co1/3Mn1/3]O2 cathode material by carbonate co-precipitation method was studied via thermo gravimetry analysis(TG) of carbonate co-precipitation precursor, and X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis. The results confirm that the suitable thermal treatment temperature of carbonate precursor is 600°C. The followed studies on the effects of firing temperature(800°C, 850°C, 900°C, 950°C and 1000°C) on structure and electrochemical performance of Li[Ni1/3Co1/3Mn1/3]O2 by using XRD and scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis, shows that the Li[Ni1/3Co1/3Mn1/3]O2 prepared at 900°C with α-NaFeO2 structure, uniform spherical particle, exhibits the highest discharge capacity, the best cyclic performance and rate performance among the samples prepared at different temperature.
