Poly(trimethylene terephthalate) is a new kind of polyester, which will be widely used in textile, engineering plastics, films etc. for its special structure and excellent physical-chemical property. 1,3-Propanediol(PDO) is the main material of PTT synthesized. In this article, PTT(B-PTT) was synthesized with 1,3-PDO produced by biosynthesis called as "green industry"by means of direct esterification and polycondensation and its structure was characterized by IR, ~1H NMR. PTT synthesized are mainly influenced by quality of 1,3-PDO, condensation time and condensation temperature etc.The properties of B-PTT were studied and compared with PTT(C-PTT ) synthesized with PDO produced by chemosynthesis by means of DSC, TG and WAXD. The results show that B-PTT is more superior in colour and higher intrinsic viscosity and molecular weight than C-PTT; in addition, intrinsic viscosity and molecular weight increase with the increase of purity.
