There is a worldwide trend toward the development of polyacrylate pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) systems that are 'environmental friendly or solventless types PSA'. The typical solventless types polyacrylate PSA includes hot-melt polyacrylate PSA and UV curing polyacrylate pressure sensitive adhesive. The studies concerned we discuss in this paper are as follow:(1) Study on UV curing polyacrylate pressure sensitive adhesive. Prepolymer was prepared by using the bulk polymerization of common acrylate monomer. Insufflating N2, using monomer adding method of nucleus-shell polymerization, adding chain transfer reagents (dodecyl mercaptan, NDM) and adjusting the content of initiator and chain transfer reagents can control the course of bulk polymerization. Also, we discuss the effect of diversiform soft monomers, hard monomers and function monomers on the properties of propolymer. The integrated properties of propolymer are the best as acrylic acid (AA)content is 4 % .Fucional propolymer can be obtained when adding fuction monomer N-Methylolacrylamide (NMA) into the rection system in polymerization reactionanaphase. 2% NMA can supply good crosslink point. Adding appropriate crosslinkablemonomer, UV crosslink curing can immediately occur after coated in room temperature. And the influences of UV-dosage, photoinitiator and the contents of crosslinkable monomer on the properties of UV curing pressure sensitive adhesive were discussed in the paper. The result indicate, in the UV curing phase, when photoinitiator contents range 1.5%2.0%, the contents of crosslinkable monomer range 1.0%2.0%, the time of UV curing range 2 5min, the integrated properties of PSA are the best.(2) Study on the environmental friendly hot-melt polyacrylate PSA. A new environmental friendly acrylate pressure sensitive adhesive was prepared by using cobalt-mediated free radical to control the bulk polymerization of acrylate monomers.
