Cucurbit[n]uril was a novel supramolecular host synthesized from acidic condensations of glycoluril with formaldehyde,it has the common character of hydrophobic cavity and two portals of polarity carbonylic oxygen atoms. Cucurbit[n]uril has an exceptional capacity to encapsulate other molecules or ions within its cavity.As a new receptor in supramolecular chemistry,it demonstrates higher specificity in molecular recognition,better selectivity and to be easily synthesized than most recognized hosts such as crown ethers,cyclodextrins and cailxarenes.In the past decade host-guest molecular recognition and assembly has become the central research field.Based on our study of supramolecular chemistry of cailxarenes,we initiated the research cucurbit[n]uril system.In this article,we described the synthesis of several cucurbiturils and studied the supramolecular performance of cucurbit[n]uril.A series of significant results and developments have been achieved and the main interesting results are as fbllows:I Synthesized different polymerization degrees of cucurbit[n]uril host compounds according to the literature method.Then six linear aromaticring diamidogen guests were synthesized by reducing Schiff bases of benzaldehyde,the furfural,the 1,3-propyl diamine,the 1,6- hexyl diamine and the 1,10- decane diamine.They were all characterized by the ultraviolet absorption spectrum.the infrared spectrum and the'1HNMR.II Taking these long chains,many reaction points of compounds as the guests, CB[7] as the host,using ~1H NMR,the ultraviolet absorption spectrum,the infrared spectrum,thermal gravity analysis and so on,detected the interaction between them,such as the interacted condition,the function pattem,as well as the reaction mechanism.Discussed these host-guest complexes'structure characteristic,the ratio of host to guest incomplexes,the equilibrium constants and so on,provided the useful information for the application of cucurbit[n]uril in the supramolecular recognition,molecular selgassembly,molecular trap and so on.III Preliminarily,taking cucurbit[n]uril(n=6,7)as the model substrate members, benzaldehyde,furfural and 1,6-hexyl diamine,1,10-decane diamine as the linear moleculars,three new rotaxanes were prepared and their structures were characterized by'1HNMR.
