| In this paper, the characteristics and the development status of the Micro-EDM (Micro-Electrical Discharge Machining) are presented. Making use of the commercial EDM machine doing the micro machining is brought forward, and the advantages of the commercial EDM machine in the micro-machining field are analyzed.In order to validate the feasibility of it, lots of experiments about the technics of the micro-EDM are done on the base of the examinations of the mechanical performance, such as the influences for the machining velocity and the wear down of the electrode by the setting of parameters.The experiments of the micro-rods and holes are made in the paper. Four methods of the copy machining in common use are expounded, and the influences of the different feeding methods to the results are analyzed. Then a micro-rod is made by one of these methods.At the end of this paper, the micro-gear is made by the electrical discharge contour evolution machining, and the cavity of micro-flowmeter is made by the EDM. In the machining of the micro-gear, the method of electrical discharge contour evolution machining is introduced detailedly, and a micro-gear is made successfully. In the machining of the cavity of micro-flowmeter, how to minish the density of the electric current to increase the quality of the machining is introduced.In the end, the paper is summarized, and the later studies of the Micro-machining by the commercial EDM machine are suggested. |
