Our country is burned coal country primarily, and nearly a hundred million tons of fly ash is discharged. A large amount of fly ash is piled up, not only holds a lot of land but also has great harm for theenvironment. We can dispose of waste water by utilizing adsorption capability and coagulate and filter operation to water impurity of the fly ash at aim to dispose waste by waste, then the disposing cost is low and raw materials can be obtained conveniently.At first, This text formulated physical and chemical characteristic of the fly ash. Then, we processed adsorption and percolation test by using fly ash as adsorption and filtration layer , and approved the feasibility of using fly ash for waste water treatment, and assessed the adsorption and percolation characteristic of the fly ash. At last, we tried to find the relation of time, temperature and environmental medium with the adsorptive capacity. We obtained the relevant relations of pollutant, liquor acidity, ashy density, reaction time, with filtering result, through testing pollution index of the sewage under different experimental conditions.The results were showed as follows: The fly ash has good adsorption capacity to the pollutant in waste water;The adsorptive capacity strengthen with lasting adsorption time and increasing cement-water ratio;The acidity has great influence on the adsorptive capacity of fly ash;The fly ash is suitable for low density waste water treatment.
