According to the theoretical analysis and numerical simulation calculations methods, the theoretical calculation model and numerical simulation method of the damage evolution and failure for the sidewall constructed with freezing method under complicated loads had been studied and discussed. The failure factors and the mechanism of the sidewall under complicated loads had been analyzed. The typical damage models have been detailed introduced and analyzed comparatively. Based on the load on the sidewall, the appropriate method for load calculation and model for certain stage after sidewall running have been selected. Thinking of the factors such as temperature, construction condition, the concrete fracture energy and aggregate, the initial damage of sidewall is search. The basic principle of finite element method considering damage action is searched, and the body element file, surface element file and load file are obtained based on FEPG software, the 3 dimensions elastic damage program is generated. The program is tested using thick-cylinder theory solution, and the error between the numerical solution and theory solution is less than 1.2%. It is appreciated to analyst the sidewall using the program. According to the geologic data of Langbaosi mine, the load on the sidewall is obtained under the condition that drain drop is 0.114Mpa/y. The damage threshold of sidewall is pointed out; the calculation model of numerical simulation method of the failure forecast of the sidewall lining under complicated loads had been established. The failure age limit and failure mechanics have been search through running program. The damage condition of some stage has been elaborately represented. It provides basis for further research on age estimate of sidewall constructed with freezing method.
