This paper based on the task of"Study on Mobility, Transformation of Typical Environmental Contaminations and Environmental Capacity in the Bohai Sea". The heavy metal complexation capacity (CC) of natural waters is a quality parameter which measures the ability of the system to complex heavy metals. By using anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV) technique combined with"pre-equibrium"complexo- metric titration, CC and the conditional stability constant (K) of metal -ligands of seawater samples collected in the Yellow Sea, Rizhao Sea-farming area and offshore at Qingdao city are determined. This paper also studies the changing rules and distri- bution rules of these areas. All the research provides primary data to CC in the surface seawater of the Yellow Sea. The main results achieved are as follows:In the surface seawater of Yellow Sea the mean value of copper complexation capacity (CuCC), lgK and Complexation Capacity Index (CCI) is 385.3nmol/L, 7.65 and 76.94% respectively. CuCC is larger in offshore areas and smaller in the middle of the Yellow Sea, while lgK is just the reverse. CuCC in the Yellow Sea is smaller than CuCC in the North area of the Bohai Bay and the South Sea, while larger than CuCC in the Yellow River estuary, Hangzhou Bay and Haikou Bay. Lgk in the Yellow Sea is similar to lgK in the Yellow River estuary and the South Sea, while smaller than lgK in the North area of the Bohai Bay, Hangzhou Bay and Haikou Bay. There- fore, the surface seawater of the Yellow Sea has a weaker complexation capacity with copper. The mean value of CuCC, lgK and CCI is 407.1nmol/L, 8.23 and 88.12% res- pectively in the sea-farming area of Rizhao.CuCC is the smallest in the middle of the sea-farming area, larger in the southeast, while lgK is larger in the northeast. The ability of surface seawater of sea-farming areas to complex copper is stronger than the Yellow Sea possibly because there is more organic contaminations in the sea-farming areas.
