The concept of green manufacturing and clean production is brought forward in industry manufacture field with the need of continuable development and strict restriction of environment and resource's protection. Mechanical product's manufacturing process is the main tache of directly consuming resource and producing waste material, so part's green machining technic is attracting more and more attention. Dry machining and near dry machining technology have become a hot research in green manufacture because it does not use cutting liquid or only use low temperature cooling technology, spraying technology or only a little harmless plant oil. is a near dry machining method, which cools cutting area and evacuates chip using low temperature wind instead of cutting liquid. It can decrease tool wear, improve tool life, reduce cost and produce no chemical pollution, so research of vortex tube's air cooling technology has important theory meaning and applied value.Combining with production practice, consulting domestic and overseas relative information, based on the analysis of vortex tube's cooling principle and power separate process, vortex tube part's fundamentals were represented in this paper, including wind nozzle, vortex tube's diameter, heat separate tube's length, cooled air expansion part, adjust valve and so on. Design scheme for vortex tube's key parts was put forward, characteristics of vortex tube used for air cooling were discussed, and vortex tube's application was introduced.In this paper, air cooling system is established, in which PCBN tools were used to cut high hardness material GCr15 bearing steel. Experiment results indicated that cold air from vortex tube has a significant effect on cutting force, cutting temperature and chip formation process. In the condition of high cutting speed, cutting force with air cooling increased by 16% than that with dry cutting, whose reason is metal softening effect. Cooling air expedites cutting heat's...
