Based on the abundant mineral resources of Inner Mongolia, we used the kaolinite as raw material in this research project. "Tortoise-like" Al13 chloride ([Al13(OH)24(H2O)24Cl15·13H2O])was prepared by processes of pyrolyzing with steam and soaking with shortfall acid. The chemical species of products were identified by XRD, the purity and productivity rate of products were measured by chemical analysis. The characteristics of the two processes were summarized and the costs were calculated. All of above results provide a reliable basis for industrial production of Al13 chloride crystal with single composition, novel structure and excellent flocculence. In the process of pyrolyzing with steam, we set the goal of pursuing the highest soaking rate of aluminum (calculated in Al2O3) from torrefied kaolinite. The influence of process parameters such as roasting temperature, roasting time, concentration of hydrochloric acid, the mole ratio between acid and aluminum, the mass ratio between solid and liquid, soaking temperature and time are... |
