Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) are organic pollutants, which are widely distributing in environment, with large quantity and various types. PAHs are harmful to human beings. Several PAHs have been indicated to have carcinogenic character. The main sources of PAHs are automobile exhausts, industry processing, environmental tobacco smog, fuel burning, cooking soot, petroleum leaking, etc. PAHs pollution can cause great dangers to human health. Therefore, it is important to grasp the polluted situations, main sources and assemblages of PAHs accurately which can offer scientific basis to control PAHs pollution effectively and protect people's health. In this paper, we set up sampling sites along traffic main roads in Xi'an city, and then utilize ultrasonic extraction to extract samples, use KD concentrated apparatus and colloidal silica layer to concentrate and purify the samples, then use GC-MS to analyze preconditioning-samples qualitatively and quantitatively. We can receive the major components and concentrations of PAHs in traffic main roads in Xi'an city. The conclusions are summarized as follows:(1) We use GC-MS to analyze these samples which gathered from typical road in Xi'an city qualitatively and quantitatively; we know that there are 16 kinds of PAHs withcontolled priority------Nap, Acy, Ace, Flu, Phe, Ant, Flua, Pyr, BaA, Chr, BbF, BkF, BaP,IcdP, DahA------in Xi'an. Through the quantitative analysis, we know that the orders of theconcentrations of PAHs is: Flua>Pyr> Chr> BbF> Phe>DahA>BkF>BaA>IcdP> BaP>BghiP>Nap>Acy>Ant>Flu>Ace;(2) In vehicle exhausts, PAHs with less than 3 rings have lower concentrations, PAHs with more than 4 rings which are more toxic have higher concentrations;(3) The concentrations of PAHs decline with distance. We get a sample which is 150 meters from midline, the concentrations of PAHs in this sample decline 31.3% compared...
