The separation system of the coal gangue is an indispensability part in the coalmine production process. The traditional gangue classification means is focused on wet cleaning method. It leads to water resource wasted and environment polluted easily. So, in the paper, the clean gangue separation technology is designed by the Artificial Intelligence according to the coal gangue separation situation at the present time. The problem is researched that a newly on-line automatic separation system based on ARM microcontroller and CPLD technology. The aim is changing the present status that the coal gangue is separated from the coal in the coalmine. The ARM and CPLD are connected with the traditional coal gangue separation perfectly. On theory, it explores the automation separation coal gangue means with the Artificial Intelligence and pattern recognition. On practice, it can ameliorate working conditions, decrease entironment pollution, and enhance the extracted coal proportion and the coal quality. It offers the extraordinary social and economical profits for the Chinese clean coal technology. In brief, it bears theory and practice signification.ARM and CPLD is the core of the Coal Gangue On-line Automatic Separation System is designed in the paper. It is based on the AI, Pattern Recognition and the digital image processing arithmetic. The image processing system is including 3 modules. The first block is image collection. It is consists of CPLD and image processor SAA7111A. The second important one is image controller including ARM microcontroller and its periphery circuits. The last part is output and storage module. The CAN bus carries the controlled information into the upper computer (PC in the remote control room) in order to show and store image data.In this system, the hardware and software scheme are structured successfully.
