| Polyaniline(PANI) is one of the most promising conductive polymers due to its lower cost, higher and tunable conductivity, environmental stability and unique chemical and electrochemical properties. However, the main factor that precludes PANI from a wide range of technological applications is its processability. PANI coated ATO and AZO particles , which were doped by dodecyl benzenesulfonic acid (DBSA) and hydrochloric acid (HCl), were in-situ synthesized with the presence of these solid particles in the reaction media to improve PANI's processability, and with the investigations of polymerization processes, properties and applications of the composites, conclusions and results were obtained as listed below.1. It was indicated from the studies of the polymerization processes, yields and morphology of the composite particles that aniline(ANI) was polymerized preferentially on the surfaces of solid particles and to form PANI coated composite. For the PANI/ATO and PANI/AZO composite materials, an even PANI layer was obtained in case of lower ATO (orAZO) loading in the reaction media. The more the ATO(or AZO) loading, the thiner the PANI layer. While the ATO(or AZO) particles can be found due to the higher ATO(or AZO) loading in the reaction media.2. The preparation conditions of PANI/ATO and PANI/AZO composite materials were optimized. For the composites, the optimized conditions have reaction temperature, reaction time, the amount of ATO and AZO, the amount of oxidizer and the amount and kind of dopant.3. Electrics test of PANI/ATO and PANI/AZO composites had been characterized in detail. The conductivity of the PANI/ATO and PANI/AZO composites were muchhigher than that of normal pure PANI.The highest conductivity of PANI/ATO composite was 8.358-cm'1 at 25"C when the molar ratio of aniline (ANI), APS and DBS A was 1:1:0.7 and the weight ratio of ATO and ANI was 0.1:1;The highest conductivity of PANI/AZO composite was 3.38Scm' at 25 °C when the molar ratio of aniline (ANI), APS and DBSA was 1:1:0.7 and the weight ratio of AZO and ANI was 0.1:1. Both of them raied one order of magnitude compared with PANI synthesized by the conventional method and two orders of magnitude compared with ATO(AZO). |
