Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) are molecular aggregates that are spontaneously formed by the adsorption of amphifunctional molecules on a solid surface. We define amphifunctional molecules as those that have one part that has strong affinity-in most cases chemical in nature-to the surface and another that has either very weak affinity or none. The field of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) has witnessed tremendous growth in synthetic sophistication and depth of characterization over the past 15 years. Various compound have been applied to assemble at the electrode, but the penicillaime and meso-2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid have not been reported to modify the electrode. In this work, one of the principal researches is about the electrode modified with these two compounds and its application, the other is about gold nanoparticals modified electrode. The primary research work is as following:1. The research of penicillamine (PCA) self-assembled monolayer modified electrode and its applicationThe fabrication and electrochemical characteristics of penicillamine (PCA) self-assembled monolayer modified gold electrode were investigated. The self-assembled electrode shows an obvious electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of epinephrine (EP), dopamine (DA) and copper. All of the concentrations showed a good linear to the peak current and the detection of them can reach the concentration of 0.1μM. At the optimum conditions, the possible reaction mechanisms of EP and DA have been discussed and parameters also have been determined. The PCA self-assembled monolayer modified gold electrode has a high stability and can be applied to the determination in practical samples with simplicity, rapidness and accurate results.
