Coal gas is a kind of abnormal natural gas that contains not only methane but also heavy hydrocarbon, non- hydrocarbon. Mine department has regarded coal gas as casualty of the coal mine for hundreds of years. Recent years, with the increase of quantity demanded and the development of exploration technique, people realize that coal gas is an abnormal kind of potential resource. So people pay much attention on it. Now exploration technique of coal gas based on petroleum industry is perfect. An effective method is supplied for the exploration of resource of deep coal that can not exploit now.How much we know about the storage and seepage of coal gas will determine whether we can make effective exploitation about it. The storage and seepage of coal gas is different form normal natural gas, all these is just because the coal bed owns its special geologic particularities. In current years, with the development of petroleum industry and the technologies for solving petroleum engineering problems, the research of fluid-solid coupling is used in the exploration of petroleum and gas. Recently experiments show that the temperature of coal bed reduces by 5℃ during the course of the separation of the coal gas from the coal bed. So temperature affects the seepage rule of coal gas. The seepage rule of coal gas is affected by seepage field, deformable field and temperature field.This paper faces to the special particularity of the coal gas reservoir directly and discusses the geologic character of the coal measures. The evolvement of the coal, the geologic environment of the coal, the coal origin, and movement, storage, and the seepage of the coal gas was summarized. Experiment was made to validate the three periods during the output of coal gas. Mathematic model for the seepage rule of coal gas was built based on the predecessor's research. The solving method based on finite element method and FEPG was given. And reference was given to the nonlinear coupled problem.
