This is the brief introduction on the characteristics, sources and quantity of the waste water of medium- and small cities. Present technologies, normal treatment methods and the problems existing in present waste water treatment technologies are described in present thesis.Regarding the problems faced in medium- and small cities that the number of waste water treatment plants is not enough and existing waste water treatment plants can not deal with the big content of phosphide and nitride in waste water, SBR technology is introduced and tested. The SBR technology suitable for the new-built waste water treatment plant in medium- and small cities and the revamping of the existing waste water treatment plant (without the capacity of denitrification and dephosphorization) in Class II cities has been developed. Under the precondition of covering small land or no more land, waste water treatment plant can be newly built or revamped in Class II cities by applying SBR technology so that the plants have the function of denitrification and dephosphorization while achieving reliable running.In detail the flowing are studied on SBR technology: test and study on SBR technology;finding the basic rule of groundmass degradation through studying in a test the changes of COD, ammonia nitrogen, phosphor, and the organic matters difficult to be degraded in waste water;analysis on test data;application in practical engineering and design.It is shown by the studies that if in incoming water the COD concentricity is 645.87—1275. lmg/L, the load of organic matters is 0.4686~4.4387kg/(m3 · d), then 92.8%~98.9% of COD can be removed. Besides that, it is also very effective in denitrification and dephosphorization. Nitrogen concentricity can be changed by 34.42mg/L~65.33mg/L and more than 80% ammonia and nitrogen can be removed. What is more, the total concentricity of phosphor can be changed by 3.92mg/L~8.26mg/L and in outgoing water the total concentricity change of phosphor is 1.36mg/L~4.07mg/L. If aeration time is more than 5 hours, then totally as much as 61.4%-89.3% phosphor can be removed. The pH value during reaction and the pH value in outgoing water are related to the pH value of incoming water, but will be closer to neutral range than the pH value in incoming water. Sludge settlement ratio will increase with the increase of COD volume load in incoming water.On the basis of the test data, Pingluo Waste Water Treatment Plant in Ningxia Province has been designed, which acts as the base of popularizing SBR technology in revamping of existing waste water treatment plants for obtaining the performance of denitrification and dephosphorization under the precondition of needing no more land and in the new-built waste water treatment plant with the capacity of denitrification and dephosphorization.
