Based on the sol-gel process, Poly(butyl rnethacrylate)-silica(PBMA-SiO2) hybrid material has been prepared by two ways and the capability of the hybrid introducing the coupling agent is predominant. Moreover, mechanical properties and structure of polypropylene(PP) and polyvinyl chloride(PVC) filled with hybrid powder were studied .Additionally, zonary hybrid fibers were obtained by electrospinning and the reason was explained. This thesis was composed of four parts as follows:l.PBMA-SiO2 composites in nanoscale have been successfully prepared from butylmethacrylate(BMA) and tetraethoxysilane(TEOS) by two different preparation methods: one is introducing the coupling agent 2-hydroxy propylmethacrylate (β-HPMA) , the other is lack of it. The hybrids were characterized by means of FTIR, TEM, TGA and DSC. The results show that, when adding the coupling agent, there are Si-O-C covalent bonds between the organic component and the inorganic component and thermal stability of the hybrids increases as the increasing of the amount of silicon dioxide and the glass transition temperature (Tg) of hybrids also relatively increases. However, there were phase separation in hybrids without P-HPMA , what is more , capability changes very little between PBMA and PBMA-SiO2 hybrids.2. PP/PP-g-MAH/PBMA-SiO2 compound materials were prepared by melt blend in virtue of graft copolymer PP-g-MAH. The compound materials were characterized by means of SEM, TGA and DSC. The results show that favorable compatibility of blend was observed and synthetical capabilities of compound materials were improved markedly.3. PVC/PBMA-SiO2 compound materials were prepared by melt blend. The compound materials were characterized by means of SEM, TGA and DSC. The results show that compound materials be strengthened and toughened by hybrids.4. PMMA/SiO2 hybrid fibers can be gained by electrospinning with proper concentration. The hybrid fibers were characterized by means of FTIR, SEM, TGA and DSC to investigate their structure, conformation and capability. The results show that thermal capability of hybrid fibers is better than PMMA and they are zonary.
