In this paper, a experimental device was designed and made by ourselves, anti-scaling mechanism of magnetic water and synergistic scale-inhibition effect of magnetism and polyaspartic acid was studied. The effect of magnetic field with certain strength on the formation of supersaturated calcium carbonate aqueous solutions was investigated by measuring the kinetics of crystallization of calcium carbonate. The result shows that the rate of forming calcium carbonate is increased only if the concentration of Ca2+ is higher than 2mmol ? L1 or the temperature of magnetic water is under 70 ℃. The more the numbers of passing water through a magnetic field, the faster the rate of forming calcium carbonate. By using scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, calcium carbonate crystals were observed and crystals form was analyzed. Passing water through a magnetic field subsequently favours formation of aragonite, rather than calcite in the experiment. The anti-scaling mechanism of magnetized water was studied.Dynamic test shows that polyaspartic acid and magnetic field have better synergistic scale inhibition effect. When the concentration of polyaspartic acid and the temperature of magnetic water is not very high, the synergistic effect is even better. By using scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, it was found that the polyaspartic acid can distort scale crystals by disrupting their lattice structure and normal growth patterns, and calcium carbonate crystals form are changed to vaterite phase .
