MEK(Methyl Ethyl Ketone) is a high quality solvent, applied in the field of organic synthesizing, flavor, leather and pharmacy industry. However, MEK has toxicity, can do harm to human's nerve and body. The research is to explore the technics conditions of biotrickling filter for removal MEK and the influence of inlet mass loading, inlet gas loading, recycling liquid flowrate, idling of filter on removal efficiency and elimination capacity. The mechanism of mass transfer from gas phase to biofilm is also discussed. The experiment results showed that: 1.Using stainless steel mesh and ACOF as packing media, the maximum Elimination Capacity (EC) can reach to 260g/m3.h. 2.Using only ACOF as packing media, when inlet gas flowrate is 1.35m3/h and inlet MEK loading is less than 150g/m3.h, the filter can achieve over 90% removal efficiency. 3. Increasing recycling liquid flowrate can improve removal efficiency within a small range. Afterwards it is useless to improve removal efficiency by further increasing recycling liquid flowrate, and may have an adverse effect. 4. The biofilm can keep active when supplying air and water intermittently in no-use time of filter. 5. The removal efficiency of filter can improve from 70% to 96% after using fog spray instead of traditional way. The amount of CO2 has also increased. The results showed that fog spray has changed the contact way between pollutant, oxygen and biofilm, which promotes the filter removal effect.
