The poultry is a main resource of edible meat in our country. For a long timethe large-scale slaughter of domestic fowl is limited because of difficulty inplucking plumelet. The current technique of plucking plumelet with rosin has thetoxicity problem, therefore the research and development of production technique ofspecial wax for plucking plumelet of poultry is of important realistic meaning andgood social benefit. On the base of systemic study on the function and properties ofraw materials of special wax for plucking plumetlet of poultry, a new product,which can meet the requirement of food industry, has been developed in our work.The process of slaughter poultry require that the poultry wax has suitableproperties, such as melting point, adhesive strength, fast condensing, low viscosityat high temperature, oxidization stability and solubility etc. These functions andproperties should depend on the kinds of component and also their content inpoultry wax. The results show that the optimal ratio of component A to componentB is in the range of 0.78-1.5, the best adding amount of component C is 38% -44%,that of component D is 8% -9%, that of component E is 2% -3%, that ofcomponent F is 0.1%, and that of component G is 0.4%.A series of technological conditions is defined. for the manufacture process ofspecial wax for plucking plumelet of poultry: the suitable loading sequence ofvarious additives is C→D→E→F→G., the optimal mixing and melting temperatureis 100 ℃ . The other factors, which affect plucking plumelet, include theimpregnating temperature of wax and the wetting state on the surface of poultrybody. Research results show that the best impregnating temperature range is 80-95℃, and the best plucking effect can be obtained when the body surface of poultry isin the moist state. The rate of plucking plumelet is reduced, when the body surfaceof poultry is excessive wetted. Therefore, the water content on the body surface ofpoultry should be controlled during the process of production.The quality indexes of poultry special wax are as follows: the melting point is50℃-55℃;the needle degree is about 20-30(1·10-1 mm);the viscosity at 80℃is75-260 mm2.s-1;the ratio of viscosity at 80℃ to that at 100℃ is less than 0.7;theratio of viscosity at 80℃ to that at 60℃ is less than 0.25;The stability in form ofcolor index is less than 4.5 after two months storage. The product wax for pluckingplumelet of poultry can meet all requirements in industrial production. The rate ofplucking plumelet tested both in laboratory and industry device is above 91%. Theall results for toxicity test show that the special wax for plucking plumelet ofpoultry is nonpoisonous.The special wax for plucking plumelet of poultry is economic. Using ourproduct, the cost for plucking plumelet of one piece of poultry is only 0.13 YuanRMB,and is also less than the half of that with foreign product. The price of ourproduct pro ton is ca. 9000 Yuan RMB cheaper than that of foreign product. Thespecial wax for plucking plumelet of poultry developed in our factory also is ofapparent social benefit.
