The separation process of oleic acid and linoleic acid by solvent crystallization has been systematically investigated in this paper. At the same time, the effect of magnetic field with different magnetic flux intensity on the crystallization separation process is also researched. The results of experiments show that methanol is the best solvent for the separation of oleic acid and linoleic acid during six organic solvents selected by the experiments of the paper. It is fould that magnetic treatment can decrease the supersolubility of oleic acid and linoleic acid in organic solvents to some extent. And to our surprise, magnetic treatment, which has negligible effect on the solubility in acetone and heptane, can lower the solubility in methanol incredibly. It is also found that crystallization temperature and the ratio of solute to solvent can affect the composition and the yield of the crystallization product of oleic acid and linoleic acid, but the rate of stirring has negligible effect on them. The external magnetic fields can also influence the composition and the yield of the crystallization product and external magnetic treatment is propitious to crystallization. The computing model equations which include the magnetic flux intensity B of the solubility and the supersolubility of oleic acid and linoleic acid in methanol are first presented by analysis of the experimental data in the article. By analyzing the error of the computing model equations we can make sure that all of the equations are very credible. The most probable mechanisms responsible for solvent crystallization separation of oleic acid and linoleic acid and the effect and mechanism which magnetic fields act on solvent crystallization are discussed in this article. Hypothesis of Hydrogen Bond Twist or Rupture is first put forward. With the theory, the phenomena of experiment are explained reasonably.
