Polypropylene(PP) is polymerized with the propylene as the main material, which is easy to increase its performance through the technics such as copolymerization, polymer blending, filling and buildup.With the good capabilities of light specific gravity, resistance, corrosion stability, high diaphaneity, non-toxicity, good intensity, insulation and easy to be machining. PP is widely used in the light industry, chemical industry, chemical fibre, building materials, electrical household appliance, packaging and motordom.For the process of producing different types of PP, we need to monitor and diagnose the parameters in real time, which are related to the quality of PP. Based on this need, the paper introduces the system of model building and monitoring in PP production. Our research results are as follows:1. This paper illustrates the main research in the monitoring process of PP production, and summarizes the development and application of the PP monitoring process; from the technical points of PP production, the paper introduces the requests of technical process and control in PP production, and analyzes the main affecting factors, which can be used in guiding the real operation and ground for the further optimization and control.2. Aiming at the exigent needs of production, this paper builds the chemical model of PP industry from the point of control. With assay datum, this model can calculate the melt index, polymerization speed, serosiry thickness, polymerization caloric, which are very important for PP production. The evaluator is quick enough for the needs of production, and now is used in a big factory. The results are accord with the real measuring datum. This way conquer the delay of lab assay, and have directive meaning in a certain extent.3. Using the technology of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and aiming at the key process of PP production, the paper builds PCA model with a normalgroup of datum. This PCA model can detect and diagnose the malfunction.The research results indicate the success ratio is really high, which hasimportant significance. 4. The paper realizes the system of PP model and monitor. The system isdeveloped on the PE platform, uses the model package as the key, transferdatum in the real-time database and composes the integrated PP model andmonitor system.In the end, the paper summarizes the research results, and point out the possible direction of development in PP model building and monitoring.
